Day 04: Foundation

If i had to choose a favourite foundation it'd have to be between the Clinique superbalanced makeup and MAC studio Fix Fluid SPF 15. I've been using the Clinique foundation for a few years and have only recently started using the MAC. I had tried in the past to get matched with MAC but they couldn't find a suitable match so i went with Clinique at the time and actually really liked it. I had no problems with Clinique so i stuck with it.. until recently when my  mom and i stopped by a MAC counter and i just asked if they could match me and they DID! I was really excited because i've always heard good things about MAC.

I really like the MAC foundation; i love the overall finish it gives, however, it's causing some kind of reaction to my face. I notice i get these tiny bumps on my face that i`ve never had before. I've never had this problem with Clinique and i've even slept with it on my face. When i wear the MAC i wash my face as soon as i get home and i still get little tiny bumps all over my face. Also i only wear foundation about once a week. I was told to use a really good primer which will prevent the foundation from reacting to my skin this way but i don`t know yet. I will look into it and let you guys know if it works or not. If it doesn't work, i'll be going back to my trusted Clinique foundation.

Drugstore Haul!!

Hey everyone! So I went to three different drugstores over the last two days and found some great stuff!

First on Saturday morning, I went to CVS because I wanted to pick up some basics that I had been doing without because I am going to college in the fall and would love to look flawless for my first year. haha

  • I got the Revlon Colorstay Combination/ Oily Skin Foundation in 370 Toast. I think that is a pretty good reference to show you guys how dark my skin is. lol The foundation costs $12.97 so I am really glad that the color perfectly matches my face! I'm not sure why but I think the formula for the Normal to Dry Skin costs $13.50; just heads up.
  • Next I got the Wet N' Wild Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner in 886 Black. This only costs $3.99! I wish the packaging was more interesting..
Next in the afternoon, I went to Family Dollar store because I had to get something for a project but was luckily surprised by some items that caught my eye! The gold earrings were $1 and the butterfly earrings costs $2.

And then this afternoon, I went to Publix with intentions to buy a deoderant but could not find one that smelt good! :( However, I did end up getting two things!

  • The Covergirl Ultimate Finish Liquid Powder Makeup (my color is 455 Soft Honey) costs $6.99 and I saw this for the first time when my friend used it on an overnight trip. By the way, DO NOT BUY THIS AT CVS! It is more expensive there and costs $9 or more! Also, don't be fooled by the picture, there is indeed a big mirror with this product!
  • The Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Stress Control Power-Clear Scrub (why the long name?! lol) costs $5.89 and I got this because 1) I'm in need of a new face cleanser and 2) my friend at camp used this and she had flawless skin!
You can count on a lot of reviews coming soon!! Let me know if you have tried any of these products and what you thought of them! Also, if you can, I would love if you could suggest a good deoderant to me! lol

Day 03: Favourite pair of shoes

If i had to choose a favourite pair of shoes that i currently own, it'd have to be these 5 inch lace mary jane heels *drools*
What's your favourite pair of shoes?

REVIEW: Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Energizing Lotion in Orange Ginger

My dad just recently got the Energy- Orange Ginger Aromatherapy Body Lotion from Bath & Body Works for me and I was super excited to add it to my collection! I have tried the Sleep- Lavender Chamomile lotion and didn't actually like it very much. Here are some notes about this product:
    • I really love the smell of this! It may be a little strong at first for some people but when it settles down, it is pretty refreshing.
    • This is an energizing lotion but in my opinion, it didn't really make me feel more energized.
    • The formula is a little more creamy and thick than the regular signature collection lotions.
This lotion in a full sized 6.5 fl oz bottle costs $13 and a miniature 2 oz bottle costs $5.

Let me know if you have tried this lotion and what you thought about it or if you have tried the other Aromatherapy products!

    How To Deal With Rejection..

So I'm not going to go into details about what kind of rejection I have been facing this week but basically it has been a bad past few days for me. I was debating whether or not to do this post but then I decided that it could hopefully help at least one of you. I'm going to explain how I felt and how I dealt with it.. I like to think of this as a 3 stage overview.

    First Stage
I actually just felt numb for basically the whole day after the initial shock of rejection. I think on the first day, it is important to surround yourself with supportive people who can see the bright side even if you can't.

    Second Stage
    • This was the day where I basically got hit with emotions. There was a lot of anger which eventually turned into sadness. This would be a good day to try not to say something that you will regret later.. lol It would also be a good day to own a punching bag.. haha seriously.
    • It is also okay to look "crappy" on these days, too. Your feeling down and its okay to just block out everything for an amount of time. I had a day where I wore no makeup, a gray long-sleeve shirt, and tennis shoes. I honestly could have cared less how I looked. haha
    • Anyways I think it is okay to feel sad on this day; play sad songs if you want. I listened to "Waiting for the End" by Linkin Park, "Heartbreak Warfare" by John Mayer, "Landslide" by the Dixie Chicks [and the Glee version], and "If I Die Young" by The Band Perry. (Some dramatic titles huh? lol I wasn't that depressed!)
    • Also, letting out a good cry really can make you feel better. It definitely worked for me. If you start crying but turn hysterical and can't stop then I suggest taking a shower because I don't know if this is true with other people but I can't cry when I'm in the shower.. haha.
    • WAY TO MAKE YOURSELF FEEL BETTER: I think one of the best things you can do on a day where you feel extremely down is get something off your chest that has been gnawing at you for a while. I ended up apologizing to a friend and it's all a long story but I felt a lot better afterward.
    Third Stage
    • This is the stage where you need to put yourself back together. It's okay to sulk for a day or two because you definitely don't want to bottle your emotions inside. However, you need to move on because life will still go on no matter how bad things may seem.
    • In this stage, I like to go back to things that make me happy. I would play faster paced songs and would watch videos that made me laugh.
    • A good way to cheer yourself up is by using "bright", smelling products whether they are shower gels, perfumes, or candles. I recommend the Bali Mango Shower Gel from Bath & Body Works and I have heard the Clean and Clear Morning Burst Shower Gels smell really good, too.
    • Make the most of what you still have.
How You Don't Want To Deal With Rejection
    • NEVER EVER should you resort to things such as alcohol, drugs, or self mutilation to cope with the pain. I am completely serious; I know people who have done each of these things. I know this time can hurt and make you question everything but doing any of the things just listed are going to make your problems much much worse. Everything happens for a reason and you will end up where you are meant to be.
Most Important Message I Can Give You
When facing rejection, the absolute single most important and hardest thing to do is to not change the way you look at yourself. You are still the same person that you were before and whoever doesn't want you is missing out on a great person. Don't drop all of your dreams and hopes just because of a rejection. You are worth so much and it is important to not forget that!!
