MAC Semi Precious Haul, Swatches and Comparisons

I'm sure you thought I'd fallen off the Earth by now. Nope, just had a baby and I've been a little preoccupied with the Prince of Poopie. So preoccupied that makeup has been the last thing on my mind, shocker! I'll post soon about his royal cuteness.

I did venture out of the house with the Duke of Barfington to check out MAC's Semi Precious collection when it launched. I ended up hauling Mineralize Skinfinishes in Semi Precious Crystal Pink and Rose Quartz and the 234 split fibre eye blending brush. I wasn't too keen on the mineralize eyeshadows or the skincare this time around. The $20 price tag per eyeshadow just made them not worth it since they had a bit of fallout.

Top: 234 Split Fibre Eye Blending Brush, Bottom left to right: Semi Precious Rose Quartz, Semi Precious Crystal Pink

Semi Precious Rose Quartz

Semi Precious Crystal Pink

I compared Semi Precious Crystal Pink to the Mineralize Skinfinish By Candlelight. The outer circle is very close in color but way more glittery. When blended together it looks like a slightly darker more glittery By Candlelight.
Left to right: Crystal Pink center, Crystal Pink outer ring, By Candlelight, Crystal Pink mixed.

I also compared Semi Precious Rose Quartz to Stereo Rose and Petticoat. I found Rose Quartz to be much pinker than Stereo Rose. It's much more of a match to Petticoat but still ever so slightly pinker and tons of glitter again.
Left to right: Stereo Rose, Rose Quartz outer circle, Petticoat, Rose Quartz mixed.

I'm liking the new 234 dual fibre blending brush. It's supposed to be for packing on the color with the goat hair and blending out with the synthetic fibers. It performed nicely at packing on the color, about what I expect with a MAC brush. However, it performed awesomely with blending. I think this might be my new go to brush over the 239 just because it's an all in one brush.

Did you end up hauling anything from this collection?

PS does anyone know how to fix my right sidebar? I remember Blogger acting all jacked up months ago when I posted and somehow it moved everything on me...

Disclosure: I bought everything pictured.

Perfect Layering Scent: B&BW's Japanese Cherry Blossom

I never wanted to buy the Bath & Body Works scent Japanese Cherry Blossom because I thought it just smelled like a generic perfumey smell. But I think that was because my nose thought everything in the store smelled the same after like 5 minutes in there. Lol Does that happen to anyone else? Anyways, the other day I saw a bottle of it that someone had put in the bathroom at work and I realized that it smells amazing!

I always heard that the key to making B&BW fragrance mists' scents last longer is to layer them. I always thought that if I tried to do that it would end horribly in some crazy mixture. Lol But now I have discovered that Japanese Cherry Blossom is the perfect layering scent!

It is also lovely on its own! I kinda really want to get the eau de toilette now!

Anyways, if you layer your B&BW fragrance mists, leave me some ideas because I would love to try them!

MAC's Travel Sized Products- Can't go Back2MAC

Hey hey hey!
So I just got off the phone with MAC's customer service because I called to ask if the new Sized-To-Go products were able to go Back2MAC. Unfortunately they are not able to go Back2MAC. If you don't know what that program is, basically if you turn back 6 empty MAC containers or makeup wipe bags, then you get a free lipstick and at some stores a free eyeshadow.

Here is the link to see what products can go Back2MAC.
http://www.maccosmetics.com/giving_back/btm_return_packaging.tmpl

Here are some helpful things that I learned today about Back2MAC.
1. They accept eyelash cases if you have outside and inside plastic parts.
2. Makeup wipes are also able to go Back2MAC.
3. Holiday collection mini items cannot go Back2MAC.

I think this program is a great way to build up on your collection and recycle at the same time!

Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle!!!!

I don't think I've ever posted a review on my blog before, but this product is soooo freaking awesome that I just had to!  Aussie Moist 3 minute miracle is nuffin but the truf!...LOL!  Yea please excuse my ebonics...lol.  But all jokes aside this is the best moisture deep conditioner I have ever tried.  I really liked the Aussie Moist shampoo and conditioner and after some research I decided to try the deep conditioner and boy am I glad I did.  The directions say to leave it in for 2 minutes and 45 seconds, but I leave mine in for 30 minutes with a plastic cap on and when I remove my cap my hair feels like straight butta!  It feels like the conditioner moisturizes each strand to it's very core.  I love it!  I've got my mom and sister hooked as well.  Oh and the best part its less than $3 at my local Walmart...now you can't beat that with a stick!  After you rinse, dry and style your hair it leaves it soft and smelling like a coconut smoothie!  It has little different packaging than I'm used to, but it's convenient.  You squirt the conditioner out a hole at the bottom and the container fits in your hand perfectly to be able to squeeze it.  So there is no pumps or caps to deal with just squeeze into your hand and apply.  I give the product a 4.5 out 5.  If your hair is dry and in desperate need of moisture RUNNN stop reading and go get this now!...LOL!

Hair Regimen and Products

Let me start by saying this is what's working for my hair, your hair may not respond the way my hair does to this regimen.  I also would like to tell you my hair type which is 3c/4a I think...don't hold me to it...lol!  I also have relaxed hair, now after being natural for almost two years.  However, my relaxer basically tex-laxed my hair meaning I still have my curl pattern it just a bit looser and less poofy.

Regimen

·         Shampoo: Sunday
·         Co-wash: Wednesday
·         Deep Condition: Sunday (Protein) and Wednesday (Moisture)
·         Pre-poo: Before Shampoo and Co-wash
·         Moisturizer: Sunday (Moisture) and Wednesday (Protein)
·         Seal: after every moisturizer
·         Monday: Moisture (Morning and Night)
·         Tuesday: Protein (Morning) and Moisture (Night)
·         Thursday: Moisture ( Morning and Night)

·         Fourth Sunday clarify
·         Heavy protein treatment one week before relaxer
·         Stretch Relaxers 10 weeks or longer
·         One heat pass per month
·         Low manipulation hair styles
·         Protective Hair Styles (ends are in)
·         Cover hair at night with silk or satin scarf  or bonnet

·         Search and destroy method for split ends
·         Dusting or trim with every perm, whichever is needed
·         Air dry after shampooing and co-washing
·         Drink plenty of water

I know this looks like a lot but I gave as much detail as I could in short bullets, but most of all listen to your hair!  Tweak your regimen as many times as you need.  Your hair tells you what its likes by staying on your head…lol!  When you do something it doesn’t like it will shed and break.  It’s up to you to find what your hair likes.

New Kat Von D Palettes in Sinner and Saint!!!!

I know I haven’t posted in a few months, but I have moved to the sticks….literally…LOL! What area in this day in time does not have high speed internet access….Let’s try where I live…LOL!  So I’ve been making posts in Microsoft Word trying to get them to upload when I go out of town....without any success…booo!!!  Any way as you already know I loooovvvee Kat Von D's palettes and have all that she's made so far....these will be no exception so here are the new palettes.  They appear to be a bit smaller and have a hard casing now aaaannnnnd they also come with eyeliner instead of those awful brushes that I just toss.  Saint is a neutral palette and Sinner appears to be more of a smoky palette.

Blog Awards and Beauty Link Love

I was lucky enough to receive four blog awards over the past week and it’s such a complement that Beauty Soiree was even thought of for a nomination so thank you to the beautiful blogging beauties Katelyn, Megan, Jenn, Ana, Joan and Olivia.
For those who I have nominated – congratulations, I did take some time carefully handpicking these blogs to share some link love and I think these nominations are well deserved but please feel no pressure to pass these on, I know it can be a little daunting to find blogs to link these awards back too as there are so many amazing blogs out there and I’m sure you, as am I are discovering new favourites everyday.
Best Blog Award

Rules:
1.       Link back to the person(s) who awarded you.
A HUGE thank you to the beautiful Katelyn and Megan from Crosswire Dreamers as well as gorgeous Jenn from Pinkpurse21.
2.       List seven random facts about yourself.

·         I have a fear of crossing busy roads. I’m always the one that gets left on the other side while everyone has quickly run across. I will go out of my way to ensure I cross safely at a crossing.
·         I have commitment issues especially when it comes to big purchases, for example my poor car is on its last legs but I can’t seem to let it go and look to purchase a new one.
·         I fly to Queensland’s Hamilton Island in 35 days, I’m so in need of this holiday and I cannot wait.
·         I just discovered I carry around 15 lip glosses/lipsticks in my bag - no wonder my bag feels so heavy.
·         I collect programmes from stage shows and concerts,  so far I have collected programmes from: Jersey Boys, Wicked, Christina Aguleria Back to Basics, Lady Gaga The Monster Ball, Mamma Mia, Grease and Dirty Dancing… just to name a few.
·         I have just discovered my love of plum eyeshadows, I have always been conservative with colours and stick to neutrals but I currently love a plum hue blended into my crease.
·         I love scarves, I have an every growing scarf collection and they are my favourite clothing accessory all year round.

3.       Award 15 of your BEST blogs.

4.       Answer the following questions:

Your favourite colour: Purple and Turquoise
Your favourite song: Chris Brown – She Ain’t You (love the sample of MJ’s Human Nature)
Your favourite desert: Sticky Date Pudding or Tiramisu.
When you’re upset, you: Either get really snappy or sulky, I’d rather be alone then off load my feelings.
Your favourite pet: I don’t have a pet (yet) but I share my sister’s dog as she lives next door and she has a little Jack Russell cross named Jack.
Black or White: Black, they say its slimming.
Your biggest fear: Paranormal activity; totally freaks me out yet I’m somewhat intrigued.
Everyday attitude: Treat others how you wish to be treated yourself.
What is perfection? Good question… is there such thing as perfection? I think it’s very subjective and as long as you feel content within yourself that’s all that should matter. Look what happened to poor Natalie Portman’s character in Black Swan when she was striving to reach someone else’s perception of perfection.
Your guilty pleasure: Reality TV – some of my favourites are: The Kardashian Series, Jerseylicious and Don’t Tell the Bride UK.
